Peters Investments homebred Pierro filly Astro World is the latest TBWA Winner of the Week and she owns a page that wins every day of the week.
Astro World was given five Lark Hill trials by trainer Donna Riordan before running home nicely on debut behind Gi Gi Pops (Justify) at Bunbury last month. She backed up in the south-west on Thursday and let down to win with something in hand from Smart Shadow (Shalaa) in the King’s Birthday Maiden (1400m).
Bob & Sandra Peters bred her using Coolmore Stud stallion Pierro over their LR Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m) winner Awaken (Dream Ahead).
Second-dam Mystic Hour is by Champion Australian sire Redoute’s Choice and Peters Investments has already tasted Group 1 success with the Pierro – Redoute’s Choice cross via the Kingston Town Classic winners Arcadia Queen and Regal Power.
Their cerise and white-crossed silks were also carried by Astro World’s NZ-bred third-dam Fatal Attraction to win the G2 WA Oaks (2400m) in 2004. Peters Investments had bought into the family when Belmont Bloodstock’s Damon Gabbedy (as agent) purchased Fatal Attraction (Zabeel) from Vinery Stud for $250,000.
Fatal Attraction was a NZ-bred daughter of Humour (Ire) and the fourth-dam was a Sadler’s Wells half-sister to Group 1 winners Danasinga (QTC Stradbroke Hcp) and Tracy’s Element (SAf Computaform Sprint).
Fatal Attraction is fourth on a roll-call of 11 WA Oaks (2400m) winners for Peters Investments among Natasha (1990), Reflected Image (1999), Old Money (2000), Fatal Attraction (2004), Dreamaway (2011), Delicacy (2015), First Impressions (2016), Very Tempting (2017), Special Alert (2018) Dark Choice (2019) and Tuscan Queen (2020).
Peters Investments bred another new Pierro winner on Sunday when Royal Law was successful in the Western Racepix Maiden (1600m) at Northam. Purchased by trainer Ash Maley for $12,000 at the Inglis June (Early) Online Sale, he’s the first foal of LR Natasha Stakes (2200m) winner Royal Star (Redoute’s Choice).
