No Brainer has gone to the paddock as one of the most improved horses in training for trainer Dan Morton.
The Yarradale Stud-bred graduate (Photo / Western Racepix) faced the starter for the first time in a Bunbury maiden on July 11 and reappeared every fortnight before making it 4 wins from 5 starts in the Mrs Macs Hcp (1300m) at Belmont on Saturday.
The sole blip was an unplaced run behind Deferred (Demerit) on August 10 when stewards reported he was impeded until the 200m before being bumped when shifting inwards to gain clear running.
“He’s a ripper and there’s a lot to like,” Morton said following a dominant victory over Jelly Can Run (Lucky Street) and Lost City (Rommel). “There didn’t look like much speed on paper and Brad (Parnham) was adamant he could control the race in front.
“He’s the whole package and has earned a spell now. We will bypass most of the summer carnival and chime in with something later.”
Parnham reported No Brainer is still learning after a progressive first prep. “He’s a free-flowing galloper and doesn’t like being bottled up. He was in a lovely rhythm in front today and let down nicely although he does wander about and look around. When the penny drops, there could be a nice race in him.”
No Brainer (4g So You Think – Miss Strezelecki by Al Maher) is a younger half-brother to Mizlecki (Lope De Vega) who was a Listed winner of the Raconteur Stakes, Sheila Gwynne Classic, Belmont Oaks and Old Comrade Stakes in 2018-19.
Mizlecki banked over $500,000 in Yarradale’s colours and her new-season 2yo is a So You Think (NZ) colt that Pearce Racing bought for $100,000 at the Swan Valley in February. Her current yearling is a colt by Darley shuttler Palace Pier (GB).
