Oakland Park stallion Sessions was triple-handed in the Boulevard Jewellery Maiden (1000m) at Northam on Thursday but Real Deluxe made it a one-act affair putting four lengths on a field of inexperienced first and second starters.
Real Deluxe was racing first-up since an unfortunate debut in the G3 Gimcrack Stakes (1100m) Ascot in April. She led them up but faded to finish last after being held tight and restrained in the straight. Stewards reported she also made contact with the running rail and a post-race vet exam revealed mild heat illness.
The Dion Luciani-trained filly was backed with confidence at Northam following two smart trials at Belmont and she won in a canter after in-form 3kg claimer Chanel Cooper took the initiative with an early move that paid dividends. Cooper speared Real Deluxe to the front and the grey went further ahead in the straight from a wall of also-rans that included the Sessions 3yo geldings Wineaclocksumwhere (4th) and Amaroo Star (5th).
Her dam Jungle Mak (Teofilo) was bred by Tony Bartlett (Milfordale Stud) and was an Ascot juvenile winner for Wally Mitchell in December 2013. She is now three-for-three at stud for Loloma Farms starting with Got Lucky (He’s A Decoy) who completed the 2023 Laverton, Leinster and Leonora Cups treble for Paddy Bermingham.
Loloma Farms owner Kevin Fowler retained her Snippetson filly Shell Bell (Snippetson) and was rewarded with an Ascot juvenile double with Luciani in 2022-23. Jungle Mak’s latest is a first-crop filly by Geisel Park sire Aysar (Deep Field) that was delivered on August 11.
