Filthy Habits was a profitable pinhook for Forest View Farm as a foal and now he’s rewarding connections with back-to-back new-season victories at Belmont.
The front-running stayer controlled the WA Racing Hall Of Fame Inductee Bert Harrison Hcp (2200m) on Saturday to send his earnings through $300,000 with the help of $88,000 in Westspeed Bonuses.
Filthy Habits relished the Heavy 8 conditions to score by a length from Buckeye Bullet (Olympic Glory) and Queen Of Jerusalem (God Has Spoken) and, what’s more, winning jockey Lucy Fiore couldn’t pull him up after the line! “That was hard work and lucky he’s so tough because I was exhausted,” Fiore told The West Australian. “He kept fighting and fighting and just doesn’t get tired.

“He recovers so well every time he races and we just send him around again. Buckeye Bullet came up on the inside today but he just kept kicking.”
Filthy Habits prevailed following a similar victory a fortnight ago when he won a two-horse war with Kerman Rock (Snippetson) after being headed in the straight. He’s trained by Lucy’s husband Brandon Fiore for Lucy’s father Justin Warwick who races him in partnership with Forest View Farm’s Ben and Jo Duncan.
“We put the work into him because he does quite well between runs,” Brandon revealed. “He’s a proven wet-track horse so we will probably keep him here instead of going up to Kalgoorlie for the Cup.”
Forest View bought Filthy Habits as a pinhook for $25,000 at the Mungrup Stud Dispersal in August 2020 and they kept a share after selling him to Warwick for $80,000 six months later at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions.
Filthy Habits is a son of I’m All The Talk (Stratum) who was all set to make a major impact on the local industry after claiming the WA 2YO Sires’ premiership in 2019-20. Tragically, he died after a half-dozen books at Mungrup Stud and Darling View Thoroughbreds and left 74 foals in his final crop that are now two-year-olds.
There’s more black-type through his dam Dirty Vegas (Lucky Owners) who is a half-sister to G3 ATC Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) winner Salade (Snizel). She had three to the races for three winners and Warwick went back and bought her colt by A Lot (USA) for $35,000 at this year’s Perth Magic Millions.
