Our Existence is bred to be a black-type galloper and he won’t be long making that grade on the back of an impressive victory in the TABtouch Hcp (1200m) at Pinjarra on Wednesday.
Settled at the back of five-horse field by Clint Johnston-Porter, he gathered them up in the straight and kept finding to defeat odds-on favourite Mean Machine (Maschino).
The Adam Durrant-trained 3yo hadn’t been sighted on debut in a Pinjarra maiden won by Bondi Bay (Bondi) but lived up to his price-tag second time out. He had been a $260,000 graduate from the Amelia Park (as agent) consignment to the 2023 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
“Missed in the market, our royally-bred gelding Our Existence recorded an early victory against a small but handy three year-old field,” Durrant said. “He’s putting the pieces together for what looks to be a very promising future and there will be plenty of winning photos ahead.”
Our Existence is a son of Champion Australian 3YO Colt Trapeze Artist (Snitzel) who stands for a $55,000 fee at Widden Stud in the Hunter Valley. His dam Lady Cosmology (Universal Ruler) was a Group 3 winner in Adelaide (Proud Miss Stakes) and a dual Listed winner in Perth (Supremacy Stakes and Burgess Queen Stakes).
“She ran second to Arcadia Queen in a WA Guineas and always performed very well,” Amelia Park owner Peter Walsh recalled. “She was a tough, tough mare and was probably the second-best horse that I’ve ever owned.”
Top honours are reserved for Walsh’s Group 1-winning mare Amelia’s Jewel (Siyouni) who won a Warwick Farm trial last Monday for her new trainers Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald. She will race first-up in the G2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 7.
