Winning Rupert sprinter Winning Revolution came from nowhere to blitz his rivals in the Winning Edge Presentations Hcp (1000m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Jon O’Connor-trained gelding wasn’t in the call passing the furlong but mowed them down to score by a head from Kalasec (Brave Smash).  “We were stuck wide from the outside barrier but he’s so tough,” apprentice Taylor Johnstone said.  “He really knuckled down and fired to the line.

“I ride work for Jon every morning and he’s been a great supporter.”

Winning Revolution (white cap) is a son of Geisel Park sire Winning Rupert and it was by far the most impressive of his three city wins this year.

Johnstone’s well-timed ride and a claim that took 3kg off his original handicap of 60kg made all the difference on Saturday.  She is apprenticed to Andrew Gluyas whose stables are next-door to O’Connor at Morphettville.

Winning Revolution had shown natural ability from the outset with a debut second in the Listed Without Fear Stakes (1050m) as an autumn 2yo.

He’s the first foal of English-bred mare Broughtons Fancy (Pastoral Pursuits) who won five races for Abergavenny trainer David Evans before arriving out here in April 2018.

Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon) will stand for an introductory $8,800 (inc GST) service fee at Geisel Park this year alongside Aysar ($8,800), Manhattan Rain ($8,250) and All American ($4,400).  For bookings or further information, contact stud manager Conor Dunlop on 0447 434 735.
