High-class sprinting mare Fabergino will remain in WA hands after being purchased by Perth businessman Frank Fiore for $380,000 at the Inglis Digital June Late Sale.
Last week’s online transactions also saw Byerley Bloodstock’s Liam Peters buy Chokito (Vespa) for $85,000 at the latest Gavelhouse Sale. Her younger half-sister Luvnwar (War Decree) had won the LR Belmont Guineas (1600m) for Peters Investments on June 24.
Fabergino (Maschino) was offered by Jim and Trish Anderson and John Beesley – in foal to exciting young stallion Too Darn Hot – and the grey flyer was the subject of significant interest from multiple bidders. She also has a weanling colt on the ground by Invincible Spirit sire St Mark’s Basilica.
Fabergino wins the Living Legends at Flemington
Fiore had initially bought into the family when paying $250,000 for Fabergino’s first foal by Wootton Bassett at this year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. “I will have a good think as to who I send the mare to after we foal down the Too Darn Hot,” Fiore said.
“Wootton Bassett has to be a consideration. I obviously loved her filly at Easter so she may well head back to him.”
Fabergino won 12 sprints and $830,800 with half of those victories at black-type level in Perth and Melbourne. “She’s gone to a really good home which is just as important as getting a good price,” Jim Anderson said. “It was a great result selling with Inglis and Sinead Flannery was very professional. We couldn’t be happier.”
Meanwhile in New Zealand, Chokito has been retired after winning 7 of her 39 starts topped by the LR Southland Guineas (1600m) in 2021. Now a rising 7yo, the Peters Investments mare could remain across the Tasman for a maiden cover to Luvnwar’s sire War Decree (War Front) at Inglewood Stud.
