Group 3 winning mare Karli’s Karma topped the Magic Millions Winter Sale in the Swan Valley on Sunday with a $100,000 bid from Darling View Thoroughbreds manager Brent Atwell.
Karli’s Karma (6m Deep Field – Sravana by Stratum) was offered by Port Kennedy trainer Summer Dickson (as agent) who prepared her to 6 wins topped by the G3 Eurythmic Stakes (1400m) at Ascot earlier this season.
She is from a half-sister to Flemington Stakes-winner Eximius (Exceed and Excel) and initially changed hands for $5,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Foal Sale on the Gold Coast.
Atwell told ANZ Bloodstock News she won’t race again and will be covered by Darling View’s champion sire Playing God in September.
“I valued her between $150,000 and $200,000 and couldn’t quite believe we got her for $100,000. We had a little bit more up our sleeves but we will take it. You have to have a win every now and then.”

The Western Breeders Alliance draft completed a trifecta for Deep Field mares on the leaderboard with multiple city winners Miss Field ($50,000) and Deep Envy ($30,000).
Darling View consigned the top-priced yearling on Sunday when its Shamus Award colt from Snippety Belle (Snippetson) was purchased by Pearce Racing for $80,000. He’s out of a half-sister to RL Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy winner Enchanted Dream (Patronize).
“He is a lovely, athletic colt and I was pretty confident he would sell well,” Atwell added. “We were happy with that price even though I thought he could have made more. But you have to meet the market even when it’s tough going like today.”
Commercial Bloodstock Services agent Noel Carter bought the next two lots on the yearling leaderboard. Dawson Stud’s Magnus full-brother to Hong Kong Group 2 winner Sight Success made $50,000 and Yarradale Stud’s Gingerbread Man – Sentfromthestars colt was knocked down for $45,000.
