Ridgeport Farm owner Santo Guagliardo bought six broodmares for $730,000 at the Magic Millions National Sale this week.
Western Australian breeders continued to upgrade the State’s bloodstock pool with a total spend of $2.68 million for 22 lots on the Gold Coast.
Guagliardo has also been active in Eastern States yearling markets this year buying a Hellbent colt and Maurice filly for a combined $400,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January. He also targeted I Am Invincible with a colt costing $450,000 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale following a record-breaking $400,000 filly by Australia’s Champion Sire at the Adelaide Magic Millions.
Ridgeport Farm opened for business in Waroona earlier this season with foundation sire Rommel (Commands). In April, Guagliardo purchased Ducimus (Snitzel) to join the roster in 2024.
Lubiton (Snitzel – Rosa Stellata by Zabeel) topped the Ridgeport shopping list at the National Broodmare Sale when knocked down for $400,000. She was offered (as agent) by Victorian-based Longwood Thoroughbreds as Lot 845 in foal to Zoustar!
Lubiton (pictured) was a black-type winner of the G3 Tesio Stakes at Moonee Valley and LR Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong for trainer Bjorn Baker and her second-dam Camino Rose (Sea Road) won the 1999 G1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill.
Yarradale Stud equalled the Lubiton price-tag with a $400,000 bid for Rebel Heart (Lot 922) from NSW-based Bell View Park. She was sold with a PPT to The Autumn Sun.
Rebel Heart (More Than Ready – Rebel Sister by Falbrav) was an Ascot winner for Darren McAuliffe and her immediate pedigree is loaded with black-type as a half-sister to Rebel King (Universal Ruler) and Rebelson (Snippetson) who claimed a combined 7 Listed events in Perth.
Their dam is a half-sister to WA Horse of the Year and home-town hero Black Heart Bart (Blackfriars).
Forest View Farm’s Ben and Jo Duncan have enjoyed a winning run with Magic Millions National Sale graduates and they’re hoping for more of the same with Rebel Assault (Excelebration) who changed hands for $260,000 on Thursday.
Morningside Farm sold Irish-bred Rebel Assault (Lot 921) with a positive test to fellow Irish-bred State of Rest (Starspangledbanner) who was standing his first season at Newgate Farm last year.
Rebel Assault’s current 2yo Siren Assault (Rich Enuff) won the G3 Gimcrack Stakes (1100m) at Ascot in April for Maureen Daly. Her only unplaced run in six starts so far this season was a creditable fifth in the G2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m).
Forest View Farm’s most recent winner sourced from the Magic Millions National Sale was last month’s Pinjarra debutante Hanoi Miss (Epaulette). The Duncans bought her NZ-bred dam Saigon Tea (Thorn Park) for $100,000 at the 2019 National Sale.
