Snippetson sired the first reported foal of the season in WA when She’s A Galah delivered a filly last Sunday night.
She’s by the former Scenic Lodge stallion who started the new season with a double at Belmont on Wednesday (Gold Keeper & Snips Rock) before a third strike at Pinjarra on Thursday (The Republican).
“And so it begins. Get prepared for lots of cute photos like this filly with Ebony White who is among our dedicated foaling down team,” Scenic Lodge General Manager Jeremy Smith said. “It’s a massive role with approximately 80 mares due to foal down here this spring.
“Thanks to all our clients for entrusting us with your mares and their valuable new foals. There’s plenty of variety besides our own sires Universal Ruler, Dash For Cash and the final foals of Snippetson.”
She’s A Galah (Galah) is owned by former jockey David Dicks and was placed twice as a 2yo at Ascot before breaking her maiden at Narrogin. Second dam She’s A Rich Girl (Flying Spur) is a three-quarter sister to Smooth Return (Redoute’s Choice) who foaled the Tasmanian black-type winners Toorak Affair (G3 Hobart Cup) and Hela (LR Strutt Stakes).
It’s the family of international Group 2 winners Gypsy Diamond (Moonee Valley Fillies Classic) and Chapel Royal (Saratoga Sanford Stakes).
Other WA sires like Awesome Rock, Long Leaf, Shooting To Win and Splintex have mares carrying a PPT at Scenic Lodge.
There are also over a dozen Eastern States stallions with mares in foal at the Muchea nursery and among them are the Hunter Valley-based WA-bred newcomers Portland Sky (Widden Stud) and Tiger Of Malay (Newgate Farm).
Portland Sky (Deep Field) was bred by Anita Vale Stud and he covered 105 mares first-up after a Group 1 victory in the 2021 MRC Oakleigh Plate (1100m).
Tiger Of Malay (Extreme Choice) was bred by Bridie O’Bree and he served a book of 164 mares following a career-best Group 2 win in the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m).
