Rocapozzene looked a progressive filly winning her first city race in the Vale Christina Barker Hcp (1200m) at Belmont last Wednesday.

The 3yo daughter of Ridgeport Farm sire Rommel completed a hat-trick during the Great Southern summer season and she kept lifting in front to comfortably hold Weaponize (Patronize) and Enchanting Sound (Gingerbread Man) when racing second-up after a spell.

Rocapozzene is trained in the south-west by Megan Midgley for owners Dan and Julie Love.  “She’s a good-sized, beautiful-mover and it’s great to win for Dan & Julie who came to my rescue a while back when we had to move,” Midgley said.  “I operate a therapeutic riding school for kids and they said come over to Gelorup.  It’s very busy now with the riding school, stables and standing their High Chaparral stallion Cohen.”

The winner also impressed apprentice Austin Galati.  “She went up a gear and it was a good effort to find the line after over-racing in the early stages.”

Rocapozzene was bred and sold by Mogumber Park for $30,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions March Online Sale.  She’s the final foal of USA-bred mare Capozzene (Capote) who was a Listed winner at Monmouth Park and her earlier Mogumber Park-bred winners include American Maid (Big Brown) and Guardian (Safeguard).

Mogumber Park graduate Barney’s World signalled he could a bargain for owner-trainer Luke Fernie following a smart display in a Belmont 2yo barrier trial on Monday morning.  He led every step of the 400m hit-out clocking the fastest time (23.57s) of the three heats down the straight.

Barney’s World is by former Darley sire Epaulette (Commands) and sold for $12,500 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.  His dam Lady Mahler (Al Maher) has a Rommel yearling colt with Pearce Racing and her final foal is a weanling filly by Safeguard.

Mogumber Park stands Safeguard (Exceed And Excel) for $4,400 alongside newcomer Marine One (Capitalist) whose introductory fee is $8,800.  Rommel is standing his first season at Ridgeport Farm for $6,600.  All fees (inc GST).
