Mogumber Park has four foals entered for the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale at Riverside Stables this week and they all arrived without any hiccups en route to NSW.
The Bullsbrook stud’s quartet comprises an All Too Hard filly (Lot 133), Rommel colt (Lot 164 – pictured) and Admire Mars filly (Lot 203) on Monday and a North Pacific filly (Lot 409) on Tuesday.
Mogumber Park owners Colin Brown and Fiona Lacey are coming off a successful Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale topped by daughters of Playing God ($280,000) and Safeguard ($200,000). They finished third on the Book 1 leader-board for averages ($118,125) among vendors with more than three sales in the Swan Valley.
“We stopped just out of Sydney at Fairview Park for five days to let them settle in before coming down here,” Lacey said at Riverside Stables on Friday. “Ramsay’s Transport did an excellent job floating them across and I know Ian and Linda from when I worked at Agnes Banks Equine Clinic.
“It’s important to expand into different markets and hopefully these foals are well-received and help spread our brand.”
Mogumber Park’s MP brand was seen to advantage at last year’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale when grey mare Specialism was knocked down for $280,000 to Victorian-based Musk Creek Farm.
Specialism started her career with two early-season juvenile wins at Ascot before earning black-type when nailed right on the line by Tinsnip in the G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes in April 2019.
She foaled a Farnan filly for Musk Creek owner David Kobritz in October and was bred back to Godolphin stallion Too Darn Hot (GB).
Specialism’s sire Safeguard (Exceed And Excel) will be a stand-alone stallion at Mogumber Park this season. Rommel has relocated to Ridgeport Farm after establishing a reputation as a reliable source of Stakes horses and Saturday city winners.
Rommel is well-placed to consolidate that start after six years at Bullsbrook and Lacey highlighted his Day 1 colt out of Notjustaprettyface (Dehere) when discussing the draft during inspections.
“He’s a half-brother to Green Shadows who they have a big opinion of in Sydney. He’s typical of the breed with a strong hindquarter and plenty of scope. He’s relaxed and settled in straightaway.
“Admire Mars was the Champion 2YO Sire in Japan and our filly is from his first crop in Australia so that should create interest. She’s well-grown and has a beautiful walk.
“Our All Too Hard is a lovely, correct filly and the last of our four is another first-crop filly by North Pacific. She’s a late foal with the right attitude and will grow into an athletic type.”
The Mogumber Park draft is housed in Barn H at Riverside Stables.
