Oakland Park resident Sessions is off to a successful start in November and he can sire another winner with Audio Boy in the And That’s A Wrap Hcp (1200m) at Northam on Thursday.
It’s the final race of the Northam season and Sessions also has Quick as Silver and No Bid engaged earlier in the Avon Valley.
Audio Boy is a last-start Ascot winner for owner Geoff Bull and he appears well-weighted for Durrant Racing with 59kg. He’s a half-brother to Bonjoy (Maschino) who won for the fourth time in a row when signing off an autumn campaign at Ascot in March.
Sessions (Lonhro) sired Placid Ark Prelude (1000m) winner Repossession at Ascot on Saturday prior to supplying a double with Wineaclocksumwhere and Flick The Switch at Narrogin on Sunday.
Oakland Park homebred Dun With The Blues (Dundeel) had won the Quayclean Hcp (1500m) at Ascot prior to Repossession landing the first leg of a weekend treble for Sessions. He immediately firmed into a $4.40 second favourite behind $3.40 market-leader Wind And The Lion (Written By) for the LR Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) worth $500,000 on Saturday week, November 16.
Repossession (Photo / Western Racepix) is trained by Chris and Michael Gangemi and he took advantage of an inside barrier to push up and lead the Prelude field after a furlong. The 3yo gelding was never headed under Brad Parnham and went on to score by over a length from Madhi Girl (Winning Rupert) and Skull Bone And Pig (Grunt).
“Mike and I spoke before the race and obviously we haven’t had a real good one since Rock Magic but I didn’t want to put that sort of pressure on him,” Chris Gangemi said. “He’s a smart young horse and we were just hoping he could produce his best today.”
Repossession had won a Belmont juvenile on debut in June and worked home after a slow getaway first-up in the Max Simmonds Classic (1000m) last month. “He stepped clean enough today but I didn’t think he would be quick enough to lead,” Parnham reported. “But they weren’t crossing from the outside so I got on my bike and took luck out of the equation.
“I like him and had faith in him to kick and hold the others out. He’s right in the Placid Ark Stakes and will run a strong 1200m. His manners are getting much better and hopefully he draws well again next time.”
Gangemi Thoroughbreds purchased Repossession for $62,500 at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions. Bred and sold by Bellbridge Park’s Siobhan Campbell, he’s a full-brother to trainer Jim Taylor’s five-time Belmont winner Ohbeeh.
Their dam Can Time (Danetime) was pensioned after foaling a Manhattan Rain filly in September 2023. She also won at Belmont for Don Summers who bred 1997 Group 1 Railway Stakes winner Willoughby (Fimiston) from the same family.
