Trainer Summer Dickson predicted a bright future for her progressive miler Macciateau even though he was all out to win the Bisley Workwear Hcp (1600m) at Belmont on Saturday.

Macciateau (4g Maschino – Girl In Teau by Beneteau) was giving tearaway leader King Cartel (Universal Ruler) the best part of 10 lengths at the half-mile before Steven Parnham sooled him forward on the back of Staaden (Blackfriars) into the straight.

He joined a wall of five horses at the furlong and did just enough to defeat the My Admiration pair Bernbrae and Special Sort.  “Steve rode him cold and then worked him through the gears,” Dickson said.  “He was well in at the weights today and I was confident he could roll along and then wind up.

“He’s still only a baby and is only going to get better stepping up to 2000m and 2200m once he grows into himself.”

Macciateau (Photo / Western Racepix) is raced by Nic and Paul Wilson and his win inched Alwyn Park sire Maschino closer to another milestone.  He can reach 200 career wins on Wednesday with Mean Machine, Charino and Queensland Diesel all live chances at Pinjarra.

Former Alwyn Park sire Alfred Nobel (Ire) filled out a winning double for the Serpentine stud on Saturday when Boots Like Bruce completed a hat-trick in the LR Belmont Newmarket (1200m).  He established a winning break in the straight and lasted long enough for a half-head victory over Saloon Bar (Sessions).

“He’s an amazing horse and stepped up again today,” trainer Anne King told The West Australian.  “He’s going beautifully and now we will set him for LR Farnley Stakes (1400m) next month.”

Boots Like Bruce (7g Alfred Nobel – Smithfields by Snitzel) is only lightly-raced with 8 wins from 16 starts for earnings of $329,000.  Bred by Emily Quartermaine, he’s one of four black-type winners by Alfred Nobel and is from the family of G1 NZ One Thousand Guineas winner Our Cure (Sir Tristram).

Maschino (Encosta De Lago) stands for an $8,800 (inc GST) fee at Alwyn Park.  Studmaster John  Andrew can be contacted for bookings or further information on 0419 929 483
