Like No Other powered home to land the latest win for Ducimus and trainer Sharon Miller in the Seacorp Hcp (1000m) at Belmont on Wednesday.

The lightly-raced gelding had won a Bunbury maiden in June and graduated to an impressive victory in town on a Heavy 8 at the midweek meeting.  He settled last of the main group before angling wide for Joe Azzopardi in the straight to take advantage of a winter bias that has proven productive in recent weeks.

Like No Other accelerated through a gap and quickly put a length on the minor placegetters Expression (Squamosa) and Aroochacha (Deep Field).  “He’s best held up for one run and Joe sat quietly on him today,” Miller said.  “We will keep him in work and hopefully strike another wet track in a couple of weeks.”

Azzopardi reported he has a motor and knows how to utilize it on raceday.  “He does things wrong and has a few issues but will be much better next prep.  A few came back in his lap on the corner but then he split them like a good horse.”

Like No Other was bred by Rivercrest Park studmaster Steve Hoare and is the first of three Ducimus foals out of Inimitable (Lonhro).  She is a half-sister to the dam of Super Smink (G2 Karrakatta Plate) from the family of Most Secret (Bletchley Park) that was nurtured by Dawson Stud.

The Ducimus full-sister to Like No Other was purchased by Parnham Racing Stables for $55,000 through Alwyn Park (as agent) at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions.  Another full sister, the final foal from Inimitable, will be catalogued for the 2025 Swan Valley Sale.

Ducimus (Snitzel) was Champion First-Season WA sire in 2022-23 and that promising start at stud saw his owners Orbis Bloodstock accept an offer from Ridgeport Farm principal Santo Guagliardo in April.  He transferred to the Waroona stud after five books at Rivercrest Park and will stand for a $5,500 fee this year alongside Rommel ($6,600).  Fees (inc GST).
