Pearce Racing celebrated its 400th win at Belmont on Saturday when Triple Jay carried Oakland Park’s colours to victory in the Bisley Workwear Hcp (1200m).
Brothers Ben and Dan Pearce launched their Karnup stable in 2017-18 and they’re running second to Grant & Alana Williams (93 wins) on the WA table this season with 71 wins.
Triple Jay (4g Street Boss – Jestajingle by Lonhro) brought up the stable’s milestone with his third city score this season after stalking speedy front-runner Puli. He took over 200m from home and was strong through the line for Brad Parnham.
“The partnership is working well with good staff and good owners,” Dan Pearce said. “I let Brad work out where to ride Triple Jay today. He’s beautifully bred and versatile and can sit on the speed or come from behind.”
Triple Jay (Photo / Western Racepix) is a half-brother to Bruckner (Snitzel) who won the G3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield before retiring to Widden Victoria last year. He’s also a three-quarter brother to G3 Vain Stakes winner Jukebox (Snitzel) who is based at Aquis Farm in Queensland.
Their dam Jestajingle won at Ascot and Belmont for Oakland Park’s Neville and Susan Duncan. His second-dam Jestatune (Rory’s Jester) won a LR Gimcrack Stakes at Ascot and is a half-sister to G1 Kingston Town Classic winner Ihtsahymn.
Triple Jay races for a syndicate managed by Kate Duncan and they knocked back a $1 million offer from Hong Kong twelve months ago. “We bought him out of a paddock at Oakland Park,” Pearce recalled. “He was entered for the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale but couldn’t go across due to the lockdowns.”
Oakland Park has bred and raced several winners by Darley shuttler Street Boss (USA) including this season’s LR Sheila Gwynne Classic (1400m) winner Sapphire Street and her city-winning full-sister Tiffany Street.
Oakland Park resident Sessions sired a 3yo double at Pinjarra on Thursday with Processio and Sensessional for trainers Grant and Alana Williams. The former started a $1.20 favourite and had the leaders covered once Willie Pike slipped him some leather half-way down the straight.
Processio was a topical tip in the Ingratiating at Oakland Park Maiden (1200m). The race was named after Oakland Park’s new sire Ingratiating (Frosted) who turned heads while parading at the Bunbury and Pinjarra meetings last week.
Ingratiating will stand first-up for $9,000 alongside Shooting To Win ($9,900) and Sessions ($8,800). All fees (inc GST).
