Fresh from a Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) triumph with Bustling at Ascot on Saturday, Oakland Park dominated the Inglis Digital April (Late) Sale that closed on Wednesday.
Oakland Park’s proven broodmare Molto Allegro (Fast ‘n’ Famous) topped the leaderboard at $300,000 when purchased by Brae Sokolski in partnership with Damian Degenhardt. She was sold carrying a PPT to Too Darn Hot (GB).
Molto Allegro (pictured) is the dam of LR Perth Stakes (1100m) winner Beethoven (Helmet) and her yearling colt by Blue Point (Ire) was purchased by Pearce Racing for $200,000 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale earlier this month.
Second on the overall leader-board at the April (Late) Digital Sale was Oakland Park’s maiden mare Ihts Closing Inn (Sessions) who retires with Listed wins to her credit in last year’s Belmont Oaks (2000m) and Belmont Classic (2200m). Ihts Closing Inn is from a full-sister to G1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) winner Ihtsahymn and made $180,000 to the bid of Nova Bloodstock.
Oakland Park’s outstanding producer Umatune (Umatilla) is the second-dam of both Molto Allegro and Ihts Closing Inn.
Sokolski also purchased Aliberani (Redoute’s Choice) from the Oakland Park reduction sale for $90,000 in foal to Blue Point (Ire). “Mares of their calibre don’t get sold that often online so I must say I was pleasantly surprised,” Sokolski said. “They come from a great farm, they’ve been very well looked after and both have great pregnancies. Too Darn Hot is arguably the hottest young stallion in the country and I’ve got a lot of time for Blue Point.”
Sokolski said the mares would be transported to Yarraman Park in the Hunter Valley to be foaled down before any decisions were made on spring matings and whether the foals were retained or sold.
“We race Aliberani’s 3yo filly Mare Of Mt Buller (Dundeel) who hopefully can update the pedigree as soon as this Saturday in the Listed Princess Stakes at Eagle Farm and then hopefully on her way to the Group 1 Queensland Oaks.
“Those mares made their genuine value and getting the right results for both the vendor and the buyer is exactly what you want from a sales platform.”
Oakland Park’s Neville Duncan agreed. “I was very happy with Molto Allegro. Good luck to Brae and his team. She’s an outstanding mare and is going to a lovely home.”
