Not many mares throw two winners at the one meeting but Eladdair lived up to her ‘bred in the purple pedigree’ at Pinjarra on Thursday.
Eladdair (Elusive Quality) is owned by Darling View Thoroughbreds Director Clive Atwell and she kicked off with Prophet And Power (Divine Prophet) in the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour Maiden (2000m) before following up with Hymns Of Eladdair (Oratorio) in the TABtouch Maiden (1200m).
Hymns Of Eladdair (Photo / Western Racepix) was sold for $190,000 through the Western Breeders Alliance consignment by Darling View at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions. A new-season 3yo gelding, he sat outside the leader Zenique (Universal Ruler) and kicked clear for Clint Johnston-Porter to score comfortably from Seven Iron (Awesome Rock) and Grace Rose (Playing God).
Trained by Adam Durrant for Rod and Tania Cosgrove, he went out a well-backed $2.60 favourite following a promising debut over the same track and trip last month.
Darling View had purchased Eladdair for $34,500 at the 2020 Mungrup Stud Dispersal Sale carrying Hymns Of Eladdair.
Her latest foal is a 2yo filly by Playing God that was purchased by Neville Parnham for $160,000 at this year’s Perth Magic Millions. She will visit Splintex (Snitzel) at Darling View this season.
Eladdair is a daughter of Kentiara (Metal Storm). Guy Walter prepared her to Sydney provincial wins at Hawkesbury and Kembla Grange and her younger half-brother Kencella (Exceed And Excel) was a flyer for John O’Shea winning to Group 3 level in the Maurice McCarten Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.
Kentiara had scored Listed wins in the 2004 Detonator Stakes and La Trice Classic for former Perth Racing vice-chairman Lex Piper and his wife Shirley. They also bred and raced her older sister Kalatiara who had been a Group 2 winner of the WA Guineas before transferring off-shore to win the G3 Royal Heroine Stakes at Hollywood Park.
Another sister Lacienne foaled Guest Wing (Right Wing) and he carried their orange and red colours to victory in the 2011 Perth Cup.
