Owner-trainer Justin Warwick paid $60,000 for a yearling colt by Nicconi to top the Yarradale Stud consignment to the Magic Millions Winter Sale on Sunday.
The August-foaled chestnut (pictured) is from Sandown Lakeside winner Sentfromthestars (Northern Meteor). Catalogued as Lot 2, he was sold (as agent) for south-west breeder Ellie Giles who has Group 1 links with Yarradale through War Chant’s MVRC William Reid Stakes winner Silent Sedition.
Giles booked Sentfromthestars to Yarradale last year for a September cover to Gingerbread Man.
A Playing God – Oriel colt (Lot 51) was next-best among the Yarradale yearlings when making $55,000 to John Chalmers Bloodstock. He’s a younger brother to Group 1 galloper Platoon and Advanced who has won twice at Northam this season for trainers Grant Williams and Michael Grantham.
Chalmers bought Advanced for $150,000 on behalf of Peters Investments at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions.
Neville Parnham chimed in with $40,000 for the War Chant (USA) colt from Rokeby’s Witch. Catalogued as Lot 54, he’s a brother to Sandown Hillside winner Witchfulthinking and they are closely-related to Peters Investments Group 1 winning filly Delicacy (SAJC Derby & SAJC Oaks).
Top price among the Yarradale weanlings was $47,000 for the filly foal out of Passion Cantata (Oratorio) purchased by Michael Wilson. She was one of the last through the Swan Valley sale-ring as Lot 157 and is a half-sister to War Chant’s Perth winners Power and Passion and Blazing Passion.
Yarradale will stand War Chant (Danzig) for $8,250 and Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) for $5,500 this year. Both fees (inc GST).
